Challenges in Ministry: The Journey of a Young Christian Couple with a Divine Calling
Why do young Christian couples with a calling face difficulty in finding a ministry to serve full-time? Reflecting on the journey of young Christian couples with a calling to serve, whom we are mentoring, reveals a reality marked by challenges, obstacles, and unforeseen events (Christ-centered, aimed at shaping their characters). Despite their determination and sincere desire to serve the Kingdom of God, they encounter the challenging task of finding a ministry with people who trust in their potential, which often proves discouraging in our current times.
It is crucial to acknowledge that, frequently, the local church neither understands nor provides opportunities for young couples. They encounter barriers and distrust from those who question their capability and maturity to take on significant ministerial responsibilities. The lack of belief may stem from their young age, lack of experience, or the church's failure to recognize their gifts and talents. Faced with seemingly closed doors and a lack of support, the couple may feel discouraged and even contemplate giving up on their calling. However, we come across the verse in Matthew 9:37, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few." Could it be that there are already enough workers for the harvest? Apologies, but clearly not!
It's worth remembering that God is faithful, and His timing is never late. Just as He called Jeremiah from the womb, He has also equipped and prepared these young individuals to serve in His Kingdom. Despite adversities, God can open unexpected paths and raise up people willing to believe in their potential. It is the responsibility of the local church to create spaces for the couple to grow, develop, and strengthen, refining their gifts, talents, and molding their characters closer to Jesus Christ. In moments of discouragement and uncertainty, unwavering faith and trust in divine provision are essential. With perseverance, a search for service opportunities, and the cultivation of meaningful relationships, the couple can trust that God is working in their hearts and circumstances.
Even in the face of challenges, may this couple find comfort in the constant presence and unconditional love of God. May they remember who called them to this task and that their ministerial journey is sustained by the grace and providence of a heavenly Father. May they remain steadfast in their faith, confident in the hope they have in Christ, and find encouragement in the fellowship of the saints. And as they navigate these challenges, may they find support in loving brethren, mentor pastors, and prayers from those around them, providing strength and courage to persevere in their divine calling until they are fit for the harvest, for His glory and the good of His people.
