Embracing the Gift of Spiritual Correction: A Leader's Path to Righteousness.
The corrections of the Lord in a leader’s life are not always pleasant, as they may cause us suffering. However, we must not forget that the corrections that come upon us are from the God who loves us and makes them for our good. In the corrections of the Lord, we are benefited by the results they achieve in our lives.
In Hebrews 12:11, it is mentioned that discipline, instead of being accepted with joy, is often accepted with sadness. However, later on, we will see that it produces the fruit of righteousness and peace. Also, in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, it emphasizes that correction is instruction in righteousness, meaning teaching to make us capable and fully prepared for every good work.
Therefore, the Word of God warns us in Proverbs 15:32 not to neglect considering correction.
By considering it, we demonstrate care to become people of understanding. Hence, the correction of the Lord in the life of a leader should be seen by him as a great blessing, care, and instruction. This is because a leader is an influencer, either for good or for bad. We must be vigilant in everything God wants us to be in our actions so that our followers see us as credible individuals. Titus, sent by Paul to organize the churches in Crete, is exhorted to ensure that his conduct is exemplary in everything (Titus 2:7). I emphasize the blessing of instruction in righteousness. Righteousness is the exclusive standard of honesty, truth, and integrity. The justice of God is upright and full of mercy. He reproves and condemns injustice because it causes destruction and death.
Therefore, being instructed in righteousness means that we should act, despite our imperfections, as God would act. To achieve this, it is necessary for us, leaders, to be sensitive to the voice of the Spirit of God, always watching our actions and accepting the corrections of the Lord that will be beneficial to our work.
