Combating Femicide: A Joint Effort Toward Positive Change

Femicide is a deeply disturbing and widespread social problem that involves the deliberate killing of women or girls. According to UOL, one of Brazil’s largest news sites, the country ranks fifth in femicide rates. This harsh reality underscores the critical need for comprehensive initiatives to reduce these acts of violence. Femicide is not only a crime, but also a stark indicator of the broader challenges women face on a global scale. Combating femicide requires a multifaceted strategy, including education, mobilization, and legal support. Awareness campaigns and policy adjustments are needed to create a safer environment for women and girls.

In Brazil, a Christian organization called "Somos Todas Marianas" emerged after a tragic crime that occurred some years ago. Carol Costa, president of the organization, extended an invitation to "Lead by the Name" to collaborate with Somos Todas Marianas, drawing on their expertise in organizational development. The goal is to expand, increase effectiveness, and elevate performance in a strategic way. This collaboration involves intentional, well-planned initiatives designed to spark positive, lasting transformation across multiple dimensions, including structure, culture, systems, and processes.

Rodrigo Marin, Brazil Executive Director, will oversee and guide this project. Recognizing the importance of addressing a significant social issue, Lead by the Name is committed to actively participating in initiatives aimed at ending this harsh reality. Our dedication is rooted in the conviction, based on our Christian values, that we are a reflection of the image of God, and this distressing reality does not align with God’s intended creation.
