CB-LBTN Certification

The formal process through which leaders are prepared, assessed, and recognized as Certified Mentors of Lead by the Name.

CB-LBTN is grounded in the book Mentoria Relacional: O Poder da Personalização na Liderança Cristocêntrica (Gonçales & Mendes) and in Mark 3:14: Jesus called the Twelve to be with him before sending them out; communion grounds mission.

The certification assesses three pillars: knowing (training), doing (real supervised practice), and being (character and Christ-centered values). Training comprises 32 hours across 6 modules, mapped chapter by chapter to the base book, and the certificate is valid for 2 years.

The seven MENTORS competencies

Each one has observable indicators and is assessed on a three-level scale. The requirement is level 2 in all of them and level 3 in at least four.

Mentorship Understanding, understanding of the principles, values, THRIV phases, and ELLF movements.

Expertise in Biblical Knowledge, grounding in biblical principles, the Great Commission (Mt 28:18-20), and servant leadership (Php 2; Jn 13).

Navigational Field Experience, a minimum of 8 proven years, translating successes and failures into practical guidance.
4.
Training Capability, equipping and empowering, progressively transferring responsibility to the mentee.
5.
Outstanding Listening Skills, active, empathetic listening, hearing the meaning beyond the words (Jas 1:19).
6.
Resourceful Organization, consistent records, a biweekly cadence, official deliverables, and clear goals.
7.
Skilled in Technology, videoconferencing, digital calendars, and official recording platforms.

Progression as a mentor

Certified Mentor

Up to 3 mentees at a time.

Senior Mentor

After 2 years and 3 completed cycles. Supervises internships and leads peer groups.

Mentor Trainer

Facilitates training and expands the program.

Who Should Apply?

At Lead by the Name, we believe mentoring is a calling, not just a skill set. CB-LBTN is an initiative for those who have already demonstrated deep commitment to leadership, faith, and the personal and professional growth of others, aligned with and passionate about LBTN's vision and mission.

Eligibility Criteria

  • ◆ Invitation from LBTN or application via contact form
  • ◆ Minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership role
  • ◆ Formal or non-formal training in your field
  • ◆ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ◆ Alignment with the mission and Statement of Faith of LBTN
Required Certification

The CB-LBTN path, in 6 stages

All mentors must complete the certification before being matched with a mentee.

Application. Prerequisites are training in the field, a minimum of 8 years of leadership experience, and references, plus signed ethical terms and a background check.

Training (32 hours). Integrated Curriculum across 6 modules, mapped chapter by chapter to the base book, with 90% completion and full reading of the work.

Supervised practice. Observe, do under supervision, and receive feedback, with shadowing (2 sessions) and a real mini-cycle (3 to 4 sessions, one observed), assessed by rubric.

Alignment interview. A panel of 3 assessors, 60 to 90 minutes, with a case study involving THRIV and ELLF and a published rubric.

Formalization. Commitment agreement, numbered certificate, and commissioning ceremony.

Certified Mentor. Active designation, with biweekly, personalized, one-to-one sessions, with no more than 3 mentees at a time.

The certification is valid for 2 years. Renewal requires a complete THRIV cycle, peer supervision, 4 annual hours of continuing education, and favorable feedback from mentees.

The standard commitment includes biweekly 1-hour sessions with each mentee, plus documentation and participation in quarterly quality reviews.
