The Movement

Born of a legacy.
Rooted in Christ.

Lead by the Name was born not from a strategy session, but from generations of faithful mentoring, lives poured out in service, and a deep conviction that leadership must be lived out through Christ.

Mission

Why We Exist

We develop well-prepared, confident leaders who thrive in their God-given purpose — through practical resources and deeply relational, personalized mentoring.

Vision

Where We’re Headed

A world with healthy, equipped, Christ-centered leaders who inspire transformative change for God’s Kingdom in their communities and beyond.

Our Approach

Focusing on the few

"Focusing on the few to reach the many" — we believe lasting impact begins with deep investment in a few leaders, who then multiply others.

Eduardo Mendes — Why We Exist

"Lasting impact begins with deep investment in a deep, intentional relationship."

Why We Exist

Leadership That Grows Out of Relationship

At Lead by the Name, we believe leadership development doesn’t happen in a classroom — it happens in the depth of intentional relationships, faithful mentoring, and committed community.

Since 2018, we have walked alongside leaders carrying calls greater than their current capacity. We didn’t see that as a deficit — we saw it as an opportunity for mentoring.

The Professional Calling

Your Expertise at the Foot of the Cross

We seek leaders who see their skills, competencies, and training not just as a career — but as an offering at the foot of the Cross. Three pillars define the invitation:

Strategic Stewardship

Every process and department exists to ensure that no leader walks alone. Your expertise provides the "scaffolding" that allows the mission to scale with excellence and integrity.

Empowering the Called

Our singular purpose is to connect those who need guidance with mentors who are equipped, supported, and valued. Your competence ensures that connection is seamless and impactful.

Foundational Excellence

In this mission, mentoring relationships are our foundation, and the mission is the building. Your unique professional background is the key to protecting and multiplying this sacred conviction.

The LBTN Ecosystem

From Relationship to Legacy.

The LBTN model is a living cycle: each stage gives rise to the next, and the final outcome feeds back into the beginning — turning every story into learning for new leaders.

THE LBTN CYCLE 01 RELATIONAL ENVIRONMENT Builds trust and connection Relational Mentoring · Community Peers and shared commitment 02 LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT Builds competence and strategic clarity PEC (platform) · Pathways · Tools Practical, applied training 03 PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION Generates practical results and impact PGP (platform) · Real Projects From idea to community impact 04 Service & Impact Generates Leadership & Legacy PPS — Purpose and Service · Consultants Multiplication and transformation Intentional learning Structured project Impact created Returns as a "Case" → new learning

The LBTN ecosystem is not linear — it’s a living cycle. It begins in Relational Environment, where trust and connections are built through mentoring. That bond creates safe space for Learning and Development, which equips the leader with strategic competence. Training then finds real ground in Project Implementation, generating concrete results. Those results are translated into Leadership and Legacy — and every story of impact returns to the ecosystem as a new "case," feeding the cycle and inspiring the next generation of leaders.

"

Mentoring has been a gift from God in my pastoral journey. At 69 years old, after decades of serving with love and simplicity, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be mentored by an experienced pastor. Every conversation is a rich exchange of experiences, learning, and mutual encouragement.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Does mentoring cost anything? +
LBTN operates 100% with volunteers. All roles — mentor, associate consultant, support teams — are volunteer-based. The mentoring service is free of charge for the mentee. Our model reflects the mission: leaders who give their time and expertise to develop other leaders embody the organization’s values.
How does the mentor matching process work? +
After you apply, the Mentoring Program team reviews your application. The matching process aligns your goals, field, and availability with the skills and specialties of a certified mentor. An introductory session is scheduled to confirm fit and set expectations before regular sessions begin.
What is LMCP and why do mentors need certification? +
The Lead by the Name Mentor Certification Program (LMCP) is our certification program using the THRIV Strategic Framework — a 24-hour program that ensures quality, consistency, and alignment with LBTN’s values. Every mentor goes through a values-alignment interview, comprehensive training, practical assessment, and quarterly peer review. Annual recertification maintains the high standard of relational quality.
What is PGP — Project Management and how can I access it? +
PGP — Project Management is LBTN’s project office — available exclusively to active mentees. It turns needs and opportunities identified in mentoring sessions into real projects with community or organizational impact, with support from PPS — Purpose and Service Associate Consultants. Access is provided after enrollment in the program is confirmed.
What is the time commitment to serve as a mentor or associate consultant? +
Mentors dedicate approximately 4–6 hours per month as volunteers, including biweekly sessions, documentation, and participation in quality reviews. Associate Consultants have engagement based on one-off projects — availability (hours per month) is set at the time of registration and respected by the team when making assignments.
Does LBTN serve leaders outside the U.S.? +
Yes. Although our headquarters is in Houston, TX (USA), LBTN has roots in Brazil and serves leaders from diverse contexts — churches, nonprofits, businesses, and ministries — in different countries. Our team includes bilingual leaders and mentors (English and Portuguese) with experience in cross-cultural settings.
