God Calls and Equips Leaders
When God calls His leaders into battle, He equips them with every weapon they need. When God’s people set out on the journey to conquer the promised land, God commanded that two trumpets be made. When they were sounded, they would serve as His command to His people. "When you go to war in your land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound the trumpets; then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies." Numbers 10:9
God knew Moses would never be an invincible leader without the divine trumpet. Without it, there would be no victory or joy. The sound of the trumpets served as a summons for the people and the princes. In addition to calling them together, they also helped them attack their enemies at the right time and, in moments of praise to God, express joy.
For Joshua, God’s trumpet was the Book of the Law. "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8
And today, what trumpet does God use to guide His leaders? Today we are equipped with the Sword of the Lord, His Word. "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12.
With this Sword, we will lead, because in it we have all the guidance we need to be successful, just as Moses and Joshua did.
