Holy Slave of the Light

When the world cries out for peace, it usually means the end of hardship. But what if peace is not a state of being, but a person? For those who believe, peace has a name: Jesus.

Imagine that you are lost in absolute darkness. Your heart is pounding, and your thoughts are racing in a frantic whirlpool of despair. Then, out of nowhere, a single, brilliant point of light appears. This light is not something you earned or found; it is a gift, a moment of pure grace. Your mind, your very soul, becomes instantly grateful for that one beacon of hope. You move toward it, not because you know what comes next if you step into the light, but because it is the only hope you have.

That light is Jesus. When you finally reach Him, a deep peace settles over you. Your frantic thoughts and racing heart begin to calm down. You have found peace. Yet the journey is not over. As you step fully into the light, you realize it is so pure and so bright that you still cannot see very far ahead. You are no longer in darkness, but you remain completely dependent on the light to reveal the next step.

This is the beautiful paradox of the Christian life. We are set free from darkness, but now we willingly become a "holy slave" of the light. It is not forced servitude, but joyful dependence born out of gratitude. We surrender our own desires and plans, trusting that the light knows the way. Our peace does not come from being in control, but from joyfully depending on the One who is. This is the essence of faith: knowing that the light is always better than the darkness, even when we cannot see what comes next.

So while the world chases fleeting moments of calm, remember this: the deepest peace is not a state of being, but a relationship. It is not found in what you achieve, but in the One you depend on.
