Pentecost Continues: Living with Courage, Clarity, and Purpose
In the world of superheroes, Peter Parker teaches us a profound truth: with great power comes great responsibility. But that is not just a lesson from comic books. It is a spiritual truth that applies to everyone who has received the Holy Spirit. In John 1:29–34, we see Jesus revealed as the Lamb of God—one upon whom the Spirit descends and remains. This moment is not just theological; it is transformational. It calls us to live differently—with courage, clarity, and purpose.
John the Baptist, the first witness to this revelation, is a living example of what it means to have a life shaped by mission. He knew who he was—and, even more importantly, who he was not. He did not seek glory for himself, but pointed to Jesus with conviction. His courage before the religious leaders and his faithfulness to the point of death show that he understood the divine calling and did not shrink back. John lived simply, preached repentance, and exalted Christ. He is a model for us.
Jesus, on the other hand, is more than an example—He is the source. The Spirit did not merely come upon Him; He remained on Him. He is the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world, the Son of God, the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. In Jesus, we see a man who faced the cross with courage, lived with a crystal-clear understanding of His redemptive role, and pursued His purpose in complete alignment with the Father's will.
Today, the same Spirit who anointed Jesus and empowered John lives in us. Pentecost was not just a moment in history—it is a reality that reaches us now. Heaven invaded earth, and we are the ones called to carry that mission forward. As the church and as individuals, we have everything we need to live and proclaim the Gospel.
Courage to confront sin, rejection, and fear. Clarity to understand who we are in God. Purpose to live not for ourselves, but for the One who saved us. Pentecost continues—through me and through you.
