Taking a Bold Step: Establishing a Portuguese-Language Church in Colorado Springs
In the vibrant tapestry of Colorado Springs, CO, Lead by the Name discovered a significant gap: the need for a new church serving the Portuguese-speaking community. Seeing this void as a unique opportunity to extend the warmth of God’s love and foster fellowship among those seeking spiritual connection, we enthusiastically set out on a mission to meet that need.
Our journey began with a memorable milestone: our inaugural service held on March 31, coinciding with the celebration of Easter. It was a day filled with excitement, faith, and hope, as we warmly welcomed 22 people, each representing the diverse fabric of the congregation we envision.
As we move toward the future, Lead by the Name is actively mobilizing resources and people to nurture and expand our outreach efforts. Recognizing the importance of establishing a strong foundation, we are deeply engaged in conversations with a local church to serve as our guiding mother church. This strategic partnership promises invaluable support, mentorship, and spiritual guidance, ensuring the sustainable growth and flourishing of our emerging congregation.
The Portuguese Christian Community is made up of people who speak Portuguese, whether as a native or acquired language, understanding and using it as a means of communication in various social, cultural, and professional contexts, with the shared goal of walking together toward a life in Christ.
Our gatherings are centered on worshiping God through the deep study of the Word (the Bible), aiming to deepen our knowledge of and relationship with the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. This growth unfolds in two dimensions:
a) Vertically, promoting personal growth in our relationship with God by offering tools and opportunities for intimacy and spiritual development.
b) Horizontally, creating spaces for corporate worship, whether through collective Bible study, songs of praise, prayer, and the observance of biblical ordinances. In addition, times of fellowship, shared meals, and community events further cultivate closeness in our relationships.
As we prepare for the journey ahead, we humbly ask for your prayers and support.
