The Mystery of the Invisible: The Character That Sustains the Leap – Part II

Reading the Word of God goes beyond the intellect; it is, fundamentally, an encounter between Divine Initiative and Human Response. When God chooses to lift the veil and reveal Himself to humanity, He does not merely transmit information, but reveals His own character. For man, access to this revelation should not be seen as a right, but as a privilege that calls for a heart shaped by gratitude and contemplation.

1. The Movement of Revelation: Who God Is

God’s act of revealing Himself is the ability to understand and recognize His communicable and incommunicable attributes. In Psalm 119, God reveals Himself through five pillars that sustain the reality of revelation:

Holiness and Sovereignty: Revelation shows us a God who is set apart and supreme. His holiness establishes the standard of perfection, while His sovereignty ensures that His plans will never be thwarted.

Wisdom and Justice: Through His Word, God demonstrates a perfect design for creation. His justice is not merely punitive, but the moral standard that brings order to chaos and balance to human relationships.

Grace: This is the driving force of revelation. God would not have to make Himself known, but in His benevolence, He reaches out to man, allowing the finite to catch glimpses of the Infinite, recognizing its limitations and its dependence on the almighty God.

2. The Response of the Grateful Heart: What Man Does

Faced with the splendor of who God is, the human heart, touched by gratitude and contemplation, is moved to a threefold response. This is not a mechanical effort, but an overflowing of the soul, contemplation, that recognizes the greatness of the Creator, His deeds, and His promises.

I. Trust: Resting in Wisdom

Trust is the direct response to God’s Sovereignty and Wisdom. When man understands that the God revealed in Scripture holds all knowledge and power, anxiety gives way to peace. Trust is believing that God’s character is the surest foundation for building life, even when the path ahead seems unclear.
